السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
:) .First off all, I thank for this nice and very useful topic
I think that english proverbs are very interesting specially
.after comapring them with the corresponding Arabic proverb
.As for the translation and the meaning of the proverbs in Arabic
زWhen I read the proverb I was very interested in their meaning
So, I will try my best to translate them and explain them in the best way I can
:cool21: ?Shall we Begin
.Time and tide wait for no man
الأمواج والوقت لا ينتظران أحدًا
المقصود هنا في البداية أن الوقت لا ينتظر أحدًا،
فعلى الإنسان أن يستفيد من وقته قدر المستطاع قبل أن ينفد منه
أم بالنسبة لكلمة tide التي تعني موجة أو أمواج
فهي تعني أنه على الإنسان أن ينتهز الفرصة إن مرت عليه، لأنها لن تنتظر
من ينتهزها كما أنها قد لا تتكرر مجددًا،
.You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs
لا يمكنك أن تصنع العجة دون أن تكسر بيضًا، :essen:
أعتقد أن المعنى واضح هنا، إذ لا يستطيع الإنسان أن يصنع شيئًا إلا بأداء جميع
الخظوات التي تمكنه من ذلك.
The nagging* woman is like a dripping tap
المرأة الثرثارة صنبور لا ينقطع (أو يستمر بالجريان). :11lil:
أو
المرأة الثرثارة نهر لا ينضب
أعتقد أن معناه أصبح واضحًا الأن ولا يحتاج لأي شرح. :p
The first one was my favourite proverb because it had a deep meaning.
:wub2: I liked the second and the third, But the first was much deeper
I tried to find the corresponding Arabic proverbs (I mean the proverbs that has the same meaning).
.I couldn't find them but I'll keep trying to do so
icon30Thank for you nice topic and keep up the good work

... Yo SSS_999
... Hi again … it seems that you & Dragonier are active members in this section … loooooooooooool
... But also, I can't forger the others … so, keep it up & do your best to get it used
Immm … the same as the previous thread that you wrote; I can't get out without noticing some unclear points …l
Here, I noticed a mistake every one at most are fallen in with … so, thank god I came today to explain it before I come with the time that I can't explain it to millions of the members …l
IDIOMS and TONGUE-TWISTERS
!?What is the deference between IDIOM and TONGUE-TWISTER
IDIOM as defined in GOOGLE is a manner of speaking that is natural to native speakers of a language …l
TONGUE-TWISTERS as defined in GOOGLE are a phrase in any language that is designed to be difficult to articulate properly.l
... Most of you here are mixing between idioms & tongue-twisters … and that's WRONG
:Examples for Idioms
.Time and tide wait for no man -
.You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs -
.The nagging woman is like a dripping tap -
.Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone -
:Examples for Tongue-twisters
.I can can the can but the cant can't can me -
.Six thick thistle sticks. Six thick thistles stick -
.Sam's shop stocks short spotted socks -
.The soldiers shouldered shooters on their shoulders -
... Hope you guys don't get it wrong next time
Never trouble troubles till trouble troubles you. It only
.doubles troubles and troubles others too
... Now Dragonier, look at you proverb and answer the following question
??? Is it hard to pronouns flexible no matter it has a meaning or not or what
That's what I have & thanks for your corporations among you & hope you'll be improved in the future …l

Seems you guys added alot of proverbs since the last time I Enterd this topic. Keep up this good work and I will come by later to add a few. I'm not in the mood at the time being
Hey CrEaTiVe
Good to see you again
I didn't anderstand the relation between what you said
and the topic. And I'd be pleased if you explained the relation
... Now Dragonier, look at you proverb and answer the following question
??? Is it hard to pronouns flexible no matter it has a meaning or not or what
Believe me. It's an English proverb
or I would be more accurate if I said that an English proverb was derived from it. It was a famous poem in 1882
The proverb is
"Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you"
But I liked to add the original poem because I like it
That's the whole IDEA
So, It really has a meaning and also it is a valuable one
Sorry that I didn't mention this before
Hi every body
Thanx for this subject
acually, I want U to translat and illustrate the meaning of this proverb
Never trouble troubles till trouble troubles you. It only
.doubles troubles and troubles others too
Thanx

... immm ... ok ms. Dragonier
... it seems that my explanation was a little bit unclear ... so, I'll try to explain in arabic & hope you understand me
The same goes with English ... e.g. when I say [Every man for himself is not gonna work] or whatever, it's actually a saying that has been said among people in centuries … & we can't change it …l
But look at this [I can can the can but the can can't can me] … when we look at the meaning of this tongue-twister; it goes like this:l
... I: is already known
... CAN: The 1st can is the verb which means the possibility or the ability of doing this thing
CAN: The 2nd can is the noun which means a metal container for the food or the drink or even the container of the video cassette …l
THE CAN: the 3rd can in the tongue-twister is the same as the previous one … but here it means [Dragonier has the ability to can the container of the food] …l
... BUT: is already known
... THE CAN: the same as the 2nd and the 3rd explanation
... CAN'T: is already known
CAN ME: the same as the 2nd and the 3rd … and here is the whole sentence [Dragonier has the ability to can the container of the food but that container of the food has not the ability of canning her] … >>> how is that … loooooooooooooool …l
Bear in mind that every proveb has a meaning including the tongue-twister also ... but where is the ones who understand what does these proverbs carry ...l
... Hope this will be better to clear up the point
... Anything else, I'll be on
Yours from the universe of creativity
