وقال العالم فرانسوا ثيرين من متحف "تيريل" في كندا إن "بعض خصائص عش الديناصور شبيهة بأعشاش الطيور"، مضيفاً أن "تحليلنا يمكن أن يبلغنا إلى أي تاريخ تطور خصائص الأعشاش هذه وكيفية بنائها وكذلك إلى البيضات ذات النهايات المدببة".

وأضاف العالم أن "الديناصور كان يضع بيضتين في المرة الواحدة، وليس واحدة كما هو حال الطيور حالياً".

من جهتها قالت أستاذة علم الإحاثة بجامعة كالغاري بكندا إن" التفسير الحرفي للمسألة أصبح واضحا فقد كانت الديناصورات تبني أعشاشاً مثل أعشاش الطيور، كما كانت تضع البيض قبل زمن طويل من بدء الطيور الحديثة بما فيها الدجاجة بذلك".

وأضافت الباحثة أن "البيضة جاءت قبل الدجاجة، فقد تطورت الدجاجة بعد وقت طويل على وضع الديناصورات آكلة اللحوم للبيض".

ويشار إلى أنه تم العثور على العش المتحجر الذي يحتوي على خمس بيضات في تسعينيات القرن العشرين، وتم الاحتفاظ به في مؤسسة كندية للأحافير في ألبيرتا، ويعد العش والبيوض الموجودة فيه الأقدم لفصيلة الديناصور آكل اللحوم "ثيروبو" التي عاشت ما قبل 150 مليون سنة، أي إلى الحقبة الجوراسية.
