How to make Q

We have two types of questions either Yes/NoQ orWH Q

For both cases you need a helping verb, so it will be like this

We use the helping verb DOES to make a Q with the singular subjects
We use the helping verb DO to make a Q with the plural subjects

For the first case (Yes/No Q) we use the following rule

:

?

The rest of the sentence

Main verb

Subject

Helping verb

(Note:: we don’t add (s) to the singular verb because of does and that applies to the negative singular sentence also)

Does she
work in ABC Company? We have no s

Do you hate Shrimps? no s

Does Ahmed
like chemistry? no s

To answer this type of Q you can say

Yes, (I-we-you-they) do or Yes, (she-he-it) does
Or
No,(I-we-you-they)don’t or No, (she-he-it)doesn’t

The second case ~WH Q

~~

WH means (where-who-when-which-how-…..etc

We use the following rule

?

The rest of the sentence
Main verb

Subject

Helping verb

WH

If you notice it’s almost the same form the only different is we add WH first

usually

basketball

play

do

Where

go

Negative

To make any sentence negative with the present simple also we need do & does but we add to them NOT

I don’t believe you
She doesn’t work here
Simple, right

?

Finally there are some key words that might guide

AlwaysUsually Often Sometimes Seldom Rarely Never

At + time => At 7:00

Once/Twice + time => once a weektwice a month

If you see them in a sentence you usually need to use the present simple

This was a quick revision to the present simple I hope you enjoyed it
